  My husband and I were on vacation and he ended up having to be hospitalized with pneumonia. It is scary being in a foreign country and so sick. At first I was very leery of the treatment we were getting, worried we were being taken advantage of. We ended up having to stay there for 5 days, until he was well enough to travel. I think I was in denial as to how sick he really was. Dr. D’Ornellas were very knowledgeable and prescribed great care for him. Most of the nursing staff was very caring and treated him with kindness and compassion. I appreciate how they all cared for us and were able to get my husband on the path to recovery. Dr. John and his team were a blessing to us during a scary and stressful time.

  Worst experience of my life. I had 13 catheters in 5 days due to the staff letting them get clogged and infected. Two were dropped on the floor then inserted into me without being cleaned. One caused my entire arm to swell to twice its size. I was given potassium tablets on day 4 which caused three days of the worst diarrhea I’ve ever experienced, particularly difficult after appendix surgery. At night I was kept awake by the night nurse snoring on the job. My appendix removal cost $35k. It was so expensive my travel insurance had to split the cost with my UK health insurance and get approval from the highest level. They said it was the biggest claim they’ve ever seen for that surgery. The clinic is extorting tourists. I could write an entire essay on Dr John, but I won’t. He is painfully arrogant, entirely financially driven and doesn’t listen to patients. He will raise his voice if you don’t accept his opinion and actually hold you hostage at his clinic for money. I would advise anyone who needs metal attention to go somewhere else, or even better, fly home.

  I have used Dr John and the team at Medical Surgical Associates in the past but never left a review, and tonight at 11pm I’m here with my very poorly 7 year old. The staff are exceptional and the facilities are great. I’m so glad this service is available to us in Antigua.
