Too many local tour operators using high pressure to get you to take a tour with them. Many people just turned around and got back on the ship. The local shop owners were very accommodating though and were helpful finding what you needed even if they didn't have it in stock. Taxi to a local beach was easy with a friendly driver.

I was truly blessed to be here on a Christian mission ship, serving the community, the place is amazing, the people are fantastic. If you're going out their expecting a 5* experience everywhere then think again, because the Carribbean isn't like that unless you're booking into a flash hotel! The area is what it is, busy, hot, run down in places, the roads need work, it's loud and bustling, and humid and feels like the exhaust fumes kind of stick to you in the heat, but the atmosphere and the people and the place surrounding The quay is Amazing! Definitely worth exploring, there's markets, fruit sellers, fish stalls, loads of shops, just off the quay, a beautiful pottery shop, (which is pricy) and a pancake and ice cream shop! 100% worth visiting the area of you go to St John's, Antigua at any point, just for the experience! I'd do it all again in a heartbeat, especially for the people, and I spent 10 days docked on a ship there! Experience the Carribbean as it really is, not how it's portrayed in the whole resort photos! Real people living humble modest lives, and if you want to explore a bit further, you can find taxis that will spend all day with you for around £60 and drive you about and just stay by your side waiting for you! Plus there is 365 beaches in Antigua, one for every day of the year!

When you need to catch up to a cruise ship and join the cruise in Antigua, this is definitely the port you need to go to. Friendly local driver Jenson will get you there on time!

Very friendly, beautiful people. Plenty of shopping and decent access to refreshment. A clean, well organized cruise port. Go ahead and grab a taxi to one of the hundreds of quiet beaches!

bustling with activity and tourists if you are getting off a cruise ship you are probably getting off here. It's where to get a Taxi and I did check and generally they are the same price to the same location. I'm new to seeing big cruise ships so that was also cool to see. Pulling out of this bay on a ship is a real site to see. Enjoy!
